Here is what the Florida Bar says about Board Certification:

"Evaluated for Professionalism and

Tested for Expertise"

"Board certification recognizes attorneys' special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. Certified attorneys are the only lawyers allowed to identify or advertise themselves as "Florida Bar Board Certified," experts or specialists.

Only about 7% of the members of the Florida Bar are Board Certified in their area of practice, and less than 1% have met the qualifications to be Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer. Mr. Ferrin met those requirements in 1988 by demonstrating the required trial experience and success on a written examination, and has been re-certified every five years. He is now Board Certified in Civil Trial Law through May 31, 2018, placing him in a small group of attorneys who have maintained this distinction for 30 consecutive years.
